Fitness has always been a part of my life. Over the years, I have trained friends, neighbors, colleagues, and even people I just met. What started as a simple garage gym at my old house quickly became a gathering place. People would stop by, ask questions, and eventually join in. When my family and I moved to the suburbs seven years ago, the very first home project I tackled was (no surprise) the new garage gym.
What began with a few curious neighbors has grown into a tight-knit group of 10–15 people who meet every weekend for high energy classes. It has become more than just a gym; it is a community. We push each other, cheer each other on, and yes, occasionally complain together. But we always show up, and we always walk away better.
As more people asked about what we were doing, I realized I wanted to share these workouts and ideas more broadly. That is where the fitness app came in. I partnered with Jacob, a talented eighth-grader with a love for coding and athletics. I provided the vision, and Jacob built the app from the ground up. It has been an incredible collaboration, and I am grateful for his drive and creativity.
Outside the gym, I am married to Kelley, who is not only a supporter of the garage gym and fitness app, but she is also a founding member of the garage gym, serving as the heart and soul of what makes it great. My favorite role is being a dad to two active, young children who love turning the garage gym into their own personal jungle gym. For me, fitness is not just about reps and results—it is about connection, growth, and having fun along the way.
